Artist: Signed Raxas - RARE PORTRAIT MINIATURE of NAPOLEON’S SISTER, SIGNED. 1800: French portrait miniature of a young lady. Named on the reverse as Pauline Borghese Napoleon Bonaparte's sister. Signed on the left side 'Raxas':

Jose de Roxas y Sarrio (b. 1780)

Jose de Roxas y Sarrio was born in Alicante about 1780. He was a Spanish miniature painter, who was appointed a member of the San Fernando Academia in Madrid in 1817. Schidlof writes: "He was a skillful artist, who worked in the style of the French miniaturists at the Empire period".
Beautifully painted Circa 1800.
