Artist: Walter Stephens Lethbridge 1771-1831 - GEORGIAN PORTRAIT MINIATURE BY W.J. LETHBRIDGE (1771-1831): A superb georgian portrait miniature of “Mr Furse“ very finely painted on ivory in its original back frame an with its flower and acorn finial with attached hanging hook. portrait surrounded by ornate gilt frame. signed on back of portrait with “W. J. Lethbridge No 96 Strand London“.

Walter Stephens Lethbridge (1771-1831) miniature painter, was the son of a farmer. in 1798 he enrolled at the Royal Academy Schools. He developed a large clientele among the leading figures of the stage and established a thriving practice in his studio on the strand.
