Fine Antique Half Portrait Miniature of a Lady which dates to circa 1840 and which is very finely painted.

Whilst unsigned, the quality of the piece shows this to be the work of a very talented miniaturist. It is painted in watercolours on ivory. The subject is an attractive young lady painted in half portrait. She is sat in a drawing room setting with pillars and drapes behind her. She wears a period white dress with lace detailing. Her dark hair is worn high upon her head and she has beautiful brown eyes and rosy cheeks.

The painting is in excellent condition with no fading or damage to the ivory. It is framed and behind glass in a period wooden, gilded frame which is missing a few areas of beading. A truly exceptional example of an early miniature.
